Comrades in command and leadership through the ages

In 1969, Dr. Luong Quang Thieu was appointed to be in charge of the burn sequelae area (precursor of the Department of Burn Treatment and Plastic Surgery).

On October 4, 1995, Master Dang Tat Hung was in charge of the Dean of the Faculty.

On November 16, 1998, Master Dang Tat Hung, Doctor of CK II, became the Dean of the Faculty (according to the Decision of Military Medical Academy No. 24/CGD).

2007 - Now: Assoc.Prof.Dr. Vu Quang Vinh - Vice Dean of Faculty

Faculty's mission

- Collecting and treating patients with burn sequelae and all kinds of plastic surgery.

- Participating in teaching work with the Department of Burns.

- Participating in disaster and burn frontline work.

Collection and treatment from 1977 to 2003 (7 years): 3926 patients with burn sequelae (in which methods of scar cutting, closed sutures, cosmetic sutures; various types of skin flap transfer and rotation, island and flap methods were used. vascularized skin, microsurgery flap, muscle skin flap; full-layer thick skin grafts account for a large number. In addition, skin expansion bags, Italian skin grafts ...)

Scientific research

- Sandwich style double mesh skin graft - 1996.

- Research on the application of supraclavicular skin flaps in the surgical treatment of burn scars on the chin and neck region - the first prize of the Military Medical Academy.

- Using an island skin flap with dorsal interosseous artery peduncle to cover finger skin defects due to burns - burn sequelae consolation prize of Military Medical Academy.

Participate in youth creative technical sports with the following topics:

- Surgical technique for skin burn scars causing hand and finger contraction with full thickness skin grafts combined with self-made splints

- Technique to create ultra-thin skin flaps on the clavicle, island-style treatment of stretch marks in the neck area

Technical innovation initiative ( improved by Dr. Dang Tat Hung):

- Improved mesh slit tool

- Hand-made steel wire splints

- Angle measurement method applied in examining patients with burn sequelae

Achievements in 5 years 2007 - 2012:

- Average treatment capacity of 1000 patients/year

- Applying many advanced shaping techniques in the world:

1. Application of ultra-thin skin flap connecting microsurgery at the distal end to treat stretch marks in the chin and neck area.

2. Application of double-peduncle skin flap for microsurgery to shape chin, neck and face

3. Application of micro-breastoplasty technique with DIEP skin flap, gluteal muscle flap

4. Application of micro-surgery techniques in the transformation of the thumb to shape the thumb

5. Application of microsurgery technique using skin flaps: anterolateral thigh, DIEP, radial forearm, lateral scapula, lateral arm... in shaping deep burn lesions, large soft tissue defects

6. Application of stretch bag technique in shaping

7. Research on damage characteristics and treatment of skin damage caused by radiation

- In 2011, Dr. Vu Quang Vinh - was invited to be a reviewer for the International Journal of Burns and Plastic Surgery.
